Strategic Thinking

Strategic thinking is defined as a thought or mental process applied by a person in the context of achieving a goal or a set of goals in a game or other endeavor. As a cognitive activity, it generates thoughts.

Strategic thinking is simply a deliberate and rational thought process that focuses on analyzing the critical factors and variables that will affect the long-term success of a company, team, or individual.

Strategic thinking involves careful and deliberate anticipation of threats and vulnerabilities to protect from and opportunities for remediation. Ultimately, strategic thinking and analysis lead to a clear set of goals, plans, and new ideas necessary to survive and thrive in a competitive and changing environment. This thinking must take into account economic realities, market forces, and available resources.

Strategic thinking requires inquiry, analytical thinking, innovation, problem-solving skills, communication and leadership skills, and determination.
