Management experience
Managerial Experience can be defined in two ways: Where you are actually managing people or projects. For example, you have team members reporting to you. Or, you are directly/indirectly managing certain initiatives. For example, MANAGING your firm’s social media initiatives, or MANAGING pricing strategy etc.
Management skills can be defined as specific attributes or skills that a manager must possess to perform specific tasks in an organization. These include the ability to fulfill executive responsibilities in the organization, avoiding crisis situations, and quickly resolving problems when they arise. Management skills can be developed through training and practical experience as a manager. These skills help the leader to communicate with her colleagues and know how to behave well with her people, thus facilitating the performance of activities in the organization.
Good management skills are vital to the success of any organization and the achievement of its goals and objectives. A manager who develops good management skills is able to advance the mission and vision of the company or business objective with fewer obstacles and objections from internal and external sources.
Management and leadership skills are often used interchangeably, as they both involve planning, decision making, problem solving, communication, delegation, and time management. Good managers are almost always good leaders.
Besides leadership, the most important role of a manager is to ensure that all parts of the organization work together. Without this integration, various problems can arise and failure is inevitable. Management skills are essential for different positions and at different levels of the company, from top management to middle managers and first-level directors.
