About this specialization
Engineers who want to advance their careers must be able to lead a team effectively.
This specialization is designed for professional engineers who are interested in advancing to leadership and management positions. You will develop an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses as a leader, and you will learn to use your strengths and control your weaknesses when you are appointed as a team or project leader. You will also learn to manage relationships with your team members and colleagues using proven methods of mentoring, mentoring, and conflict resolution, as well as dominant planning and goal setting techniques designed to prepare you and your team for success. Finally, you will learn how to create a creative environment for your team and how to motivate each team member to reach their potential.
Applied learning project
You’ll complete a series of self-assessments, culminating in a policy paper that examines the implications of your findings and their impact on your leadership style, and you’ll interview an engineer to find out what it’s like. Become an engineer and you create a leadership development plan – a set of goals that you can immediately start working on to improve your leadership skills.
